How it works

Two letters per homeowner, both under your brand

You give us your brand and your price bands. We do the rest.
  1. Step 1: We sync the planning register every night

Every householder application in your borough is read from the public planning register via PlanIt and classified. Extensions and lofts are kept; everything else is dropped.

  2. Step 2: A letter under your brand, within days of the application

Each homeowner gets a short, personal letter that names their project, carries your name, phone number and website, and quotes only a price band you have approved. SpadeReady appears in the footer only.

  3. Step 3: A second letter when permission is granted

When the council approves the application, a follow-up letter goes out. That is the moment most homeowners start ringing builders.

  4. Step 4: Weekly one-tap approval

Every week you get one email with the week's letters. Tap approve and they go. Nothing is ever posted without your approval.

  5. Step 5: SpadeReady prints and posts

Printing, envelopes, postage and opt-out handling are all included in the monthly price. You just answer the phone.

Sample letter

See what lands on the doormat

This is what a homeowner in Croydon would receive from a firm called “Your Firm” after applying for a single-storey rear extension. Real letters name the actual project and street, and quote only the price band you approve.

  • Your name, phone number and website at the top; your sign-off at the bottom.
  • 180–220 words, British English, addressed to “The Homeowner”.
  • A footer naming the data source and an opt-out contact, as the law requires.

FAQ

Questions builders ask us

Where does the data come from?

From the public planning register. Every council publishes the planning applications it receives; we read them through PlanIt, a service that collects those registers into one place. We store the site address and the application details. We never fetch, store or print applicant or agent names: every letter is addressed to “The Homeowner”.

Is this allowed under PECR and GDPR?

Yes. Post is outside the electronic-marketing rules (PECR). Under UK GDPR we send the letters on the basis of legitimate interests, and every letter carries a data-source line and an opt-out contact (hello@spadeready.co.uk). Anyone who asks not to hear from us is added to a permanent suppression list the same day, and every mailing is screened against the Mailing Preference Service. The full detail is in our privacy notice.

How does exclusivity work?

One firm per borough, full stop. When you claim a borough your card holds it, and it shows as “Taken” on this page. While someone is at the checkout it shows as “Being claimed” for a few minutes. Nobody else can buy your borough while your subscription is active.

What happens if I cancel?

You can cancel at any time and you are not charged again. Letters you have already approved are still posted; nothing new is written. At the end of the month you have paid for, the borough goes back to “Available” for another firm.

Do I have to approve every letter?

Yes, and it takes one tap a week. You get an email with the week’s letters, you read them if you want to, and you approve the batch. Nothing is printed or posted without that approval.

Where do the prices in the letters come from?

From you. When you claim a borough you give us the price bands you are happy to quote (for example, “single-storey rear extensions from £45,000 to £70,000”). The letters only ever quote a band you have approved; we never invent a price.

Which boroughs can I claim?

Wandsworth, Croydon and Leeds are open at launch. If you work somewhere else, email hello@spadeready.co.uk with the borough and we will tell you when it opens.

The next planning application in your borough is a letter you could have sent.
